College Sports Scandal
This was a very intriguing article. I always believed that in college in order to perform any athletic activities involving the school, you were required to have a passing grade and be able to achieve the recommended credentials of a college attendee. Apparently, some colleges were so focused on gaining the best sports teams they weren't living up to those standards. Some students enrolled in their college couldn't even read at a third grade level. Mainly these students could read at an eighth grade level which is horrifying. These students are clearly not gaining the education they need to succeed in life. They only know how to succeed in sports and physical things. My overall impression of the article was shock and suspicion. I was shocked when they stated that some teachers were getting paid to not teach a class because they were allowing their students to slide pass the class by giving them one or two easy assignments. I also had a tiny bit of suspicion toward the school and how they were "striving" to make their students succeed for the future. Even the graduation adviser, Willingham, said there were still students that most likely couldn't complete the coursework.
